The many disguises of Halloween or Halloween around the World

Halloween is celebrated in the Western Hemisphere the most, but there are other parts of the world were cultures celebrate Halloween or festivals honoring the departed.

Check out the Halloween: Around the World website for a quick cover of the most popular festivals.

Many know of the ancient Celts and their celebration of Samhain, but the ancient Romans also had a celebration of the dead called Lemuria.

Honoring our ancestors, those who have passed before us, seems to be an innate human need.  For some it is a time of spooky, scary celebration, for some a time of honor and remebrance, for others a time to recognize the eternity of the spirit passing the veil to a new world, however you celebrate Halloween, Samhain, Day of the Dead, Teng Chieh or any others your are carrying on a deep seated human tradition that is iconic to all of us.

So HAPPY CELEBRATING ALL!!!!!

The Heart of Halloween 24/7

Alura, Madame LaPierre, is the proprietor of Moonspell Crafts and beloved leader of the Halloween 24/7 Team beating as the heart of the team and carrying the spirit of Halloween into perpetuity.

This week we honour her shop on our team blog with a wonderful outing.  Let's go shopping!
As we begin to wander through Mdme's shop, our eyes are immediately drawn to the dark and beautiful cards she creates.
What talent you have Madame.  Then before we can fully enjoy each card our eye falls on a journal. Oh what secret delights we could record on the inner pages!
Onward we go until we come to a warren of dusty shelves.  It's vintage tomes of knowledge and adventure! What hours we can pass sifting through aged pages.

There in the back a shelf are wonderful signs, tags, and boxes to decorate your home year round for the Halloween feel.

If you are a mind to create your own Halloween items then be sure to pick up one of Madame LaPierre's wonderful ephemera kits.  They are unique and vintage with no copies to be found.
And as we wander back to the front of Mdme's store, arms loaded with goodies, we are invited to sit for a spell, enjoy a delicious cup of coffee from Madame's home roasted beans and choose a reading from the tarot.  Perhaps you want a dash of knowledge with a reading?
What a wonderful gloomy afternoon of shopping we have enjoyed.  Madame's is a place of enchanting gothic wonder.

Oh and don't forget to scritch the black kitty before you leave.
